The PAACDC believes that an English language program for limited English proficient individuals can create better opportunities in employment, citizenship, health care and education.
The PAACDC provides English as a second language classes to the Arab community at Al-Aqsa Islamic Society with the help from Project Shine (http://phillyshine.org/). Students from Temple University come to tutor dozens of men and women from the community.
In addition to the ESL, Al-Aqsa also offers classes in civics and US citizenship preparation.
ESL Schedule Mondays: 3:30-5:30 pm
Wednesdays: 3:00-5:00pm
Thursdays: 12:00-2:00pm
Fridays: 10:00-12:00 am
* Classes for Women are provided by volunteers from the Mayor’s Commission of Literacy
** Classes for the elderly are provided by volunteers from Temple University (operating under Project Shine) |
